Wow, I recognize 2 of the YouTubers in that post.

With the updated statement, it sounds like Nintendo will allow the videos to stay up but they will take away any ad revenue the LPers would have gotten, yes? Ouch. I'd be crossed too if I was a Let's Player. I'd like to hear some good news from Nintendo for once. :(

Here's a nicely collected list of companies that allow monetization (via Reddit):

Here's some (potentially) better news for Nintendo:

Mario Kart, Mario Bros., Legend of Zelda, and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will all be at E3:

They will be partnering with Best Buy, letting you play E3 demos at select stores -- currently United States only, but if it comes to Canada, we should totally try them out!

Yup! There will be some Best Buy locations in Canada participating in the E3 week (June 11) thing. We should totally go and try the new Smash Bros. and stuff. :D

I was at a Future Shop today, and I tried playing the Wii U for the first time. It was one of the Mario games and it used the tablet controller. It was fun! I didn't have to use any silly motion controls, but yet it was slightly irritating because the tablet was awkward to hold. I'm sure it requires some getting used to, but the idea of a tablet for a controller still seems unnecessary to me..

It might take a while to catch on, but I do think Nintendo did something decent with the Wii U. I remember the DS had a slow start, but ended up doing really well for them.

I hope so! The DS definitely ended on a good note, however, I felt like the original Wii did not. :(

Nintendo should just combine the two and use the DS/3DS as a controller for the Wii U.

Im kind of shocked they didnt either.

If they used 3DSs then you would get 2 systems for the price off a wii u, ability to buy more controllers by selling more systems, and perhaps more computing power in the controller.

Yeah, me too. I love using Gameboy Advances on the Gamecube :P That was awesome!

It really bugs me there's not even an hdmi out or anything on the 3DS. What gives?

I'm glad they've moved away from motion controls. I don't have anything against moving or whatever, but sometimes you want to just sit down like a vegetable and focus on the game itself, not how to play the game. I felt with the Wii I was constantly thinking "jesus, how do I make this happen again? Do I swing like this? Or this? Oh! No I have to do it like this!" ... at least when I tried Skyward Sword. I honestly don't think I could turn it on right now and remember the controls. They were stupid.

You should come over sometime that week Alex!

As if they'd choose an Abbotsford location! You guys are coming to Vancouver. :P

Yeah, I think Nintendo would be opening a lot of opportunities by using their vastly more successful handheld market to help their Wii U brand. They could do what they did with the N64 x Game Boy Colour Mario Tennis games! How about Pokemon? They could release a Pokemon game for the Wii U, but instead of an RPG, it would be more of an action adventure/open world exploration game or maybe even a sim game similar to Animal Crossing, and then have some connectivity with your DS so you can transfer Pokemon between them. NINTENDO PLS

Lol okay. We'll pick you up and go into Vancouver?

Those are some good ideas! I want to play Pokemon now... I loved Mario Tennis (N64/GBC) and Crystal Chronicles (GC/GBA), etc. all because of the ability to use your gameboy with the console. Such a cool idea. I would have much rather seen the 3DS replace the tablet controller.

By the way, we have a Wii U in the house :P

Haha, well, it's still early. We'll see what these "more details in the coming weeks" are.

You guys have a Wii U? Bought one or..?
